Halal cryptocurrency list: which coins are permissible-leaning?
No list is a fatwa, and scholars differ — but some coins clearly lean more permissible because they avoid interest, gambling and pure speculation. Examples we assess as permissible-leaning include:
- Islamic Coin (ISLM) — built around Islamic-finance principles with its own Shariah board.
- PAX Gold (PAXG) and Tether Gold (XAUT) — backed by real physical gold.
- EURO (EUROFI) — a fixed-supply utility token with no interest or staking.
Many large coins (Bitcoin, Ethereum) sit in "scholars differ", while lending, gambling and meme tokens lean impermissible. Use our searchable list and filter by status, and always confirm with a qualified scholar.
This website is an educational resource, not a religious edict (fatwa). Qualified scholars differ on cryptocurrencies; the assessments here are based on widely-recognised principles of Islamic finance and are provided for learning only. Always consult a qualified scholar before making any decision, and remember that nothing here is financial advice.
